Screen Burnout? Here's How to Take Care of Your Eyes!

Awesome Image

Being online forces our eyes to be exposed to the bright lights of our gadgets, and too much exposure can lead to eye strain and other eye problems. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at least 2.2 billion people suffer from a near or distance vision impairment called myopia, and a percentage of these cases can be prevented. Follow these handy eye care tips to maintain a clear vision:

-        PROPER POSTURE: Make sure that your computer is at eye level and you are seated properly.

-        BIGGER FONT SIZE: Adjust the font to a comfortable size.

-        20-20-20 Rule: Rest your eyes for at least 20 seconds every 20 minutes by looking at something 20 feet away.

-        NO FANS ON FACE: Avoid direct wind from a fan or air-conditioner as this may cause dry eyes

-        Make sure your digital gadgets are 18 to 24 inches away from your eyes

-        SCREEN BRIGHTNESS: Adjust your screen brightness to a comfortable level.

-        BLINK REGULARLY: Blinking replenishes our tears and prevents dry eyes.

-        USE LUBRICANT EYE DROPS: this may relieve dry eyes and eye strain symptoms. Apply only what is prescribed by an Ophthalmologist.

Regular consultation with an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist is a must to monitor our eye health. Self-medication practices such as applying eye drops without prescription are highly discouraged to prevent unwanted eye infections. The World Citi Med Center Ophthalmology Department is committed to providing its patients comprehensive eye consultations.
