Eat Right, Stay Light!

Obesity is a condition that is characterized by excessive body fat that makes your body mass not in proportion to your height and age. Obesity increases the risk of many health problems, like heart attack, hypertension, diabetes, among others. Obesity sees no age and can affect anybody. 

Diet plays a big role in preventing and controlling obesity. It is highly recommended for you to start eating a balanced and proper diet to maintain a healthy weight and improve your overall health.


WHAT TO EAT

  • Whole grains (whole wheat, steel cut oats, brown rice, quinoa)
  • Vegetables 
  • Whole fruits 
  • Nuts, seeds, beans
  • Fish, chicken, lean meat
  • Plant oils (olive and other vegetable oils)
  • Dark chocolate


FOODS TO AVOID

  • Red meat (beef, pork, lamb)
  • Fast food (highly processed food), instant food, fried food
  • Pasta
  • Sugar-sweetened beverages (soda, fruit drinks, sports drinks)
  • Fruit juice
  • Refined grains (white bread, white rice, white pasta) 
  • Sweets


Along with proper diet, an active lifestyle and reducing stress in your everyday life, obesity can be prevented and/or controlled. Talk to your doctor to be properly assessed and counselled.
