“Meeting the Challenges in Healthcare Thru Innovation” was the theme of the 18th graduation ceremony of Batch 2017 composed of 15 Resident Doctors from the Departments of Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Radiology.
This marks another milestone in World Citi Medical Center, proof of the institution’s commitment in maintaining the hospital’s accreditation for its residency training program from accrediting bodies Philippine College of Physicians, Philippine Pediatric Society, Philippine Obstetrics and Gynecology Society and Philippine College of Radiology.
In her personal message to the graduating residents, Medical Director Margarita Santella-Jara, MD, FPOGS, said that the residents were blessed to have been prepared well for their sub-specialties by their consultants coupled with overwhelming support by management from beginning, fruition and conclusion of their residency training. Said consultants are kept abreast with the challenges of re-accreditation with the different sub-specialties which has become stringent with the passage of time. Management has likewise prepared them academically and spiritually.
On the graduation theme, Dr. Jara said World Citi Med has always been part of the bandwagon of change through the vision and dedication of the hospital’s board of trustees placing the hospital on the path to becoming a preferred tertiary center for healthcare, realizing its mission to deliver quality care in partnership with its consultants. This same partnership opened a mutual venture between the board of trustees and the consultants in its equipment ventures. Dr. Jara closed her personal message with an open invitation to the graduating residents to become part of the hospital staff, to practice and fill sub-specialties to complete the hospital’s services.
During his turn at the podium, Guest Speaker Pastor Manric Tan Pascual of Horizon Ministries advised them to look forward as the best is yet to come.
Dr. Reymond A. Mora, Assistant Medical Director for Patient Care and Clinical Services who wrote the oath (especially for the residents’ 18th graduation ceremony) shared how proud he is of them and advised them to be humble and to serve their patients to the best of their ability as their profession is one of service leaving no room for self-centeredness.
Jesus H. Santiago, Jr., Chief Finance Officer, represented hospital President Arlyn Grace V. Guico, MHA, Ed. D and CEO Raymond Patrick V. Guico, MM in the event and shared Dr. Jara’s message of invitation to come back and practice in the hospital.
The Residents’ Training Officers Rosalinda C. Dizon, MD, FPCP-Training Officer - Department of Internal Medicine; Kristine Marie F. Gutierrez, MD, FPPS-Training Officer - Department of Pediatrics; Joanna Pauline Chua-Ursua, MD, FPOGS, Training Officer - Department of OB-GYNE; Brenda Policarpio, MD, FPCR, Training Officer - Department of Radiology enthusiastically described their wards as energetic, generous, compassionate, passionate, quick-thinkers, decisive, and born leaders.
Two names were singled out as a testament of these qualities: Internal Medicine’s Dr. Richultz C. Montevirgen who represented World Citi Med during the Critical Care Convention in Singapore and the World Heart Congress in Osaka, Japan. His paper has likewise been presented orally and published internationally; and 2017’s Outstanding Resident Physician Dr. Kathleen Mae Cuayzon-Balba.
