It was a double treat for pregnant moms as they convened together for a free Mothers Class and as our important guests at the launching of World Citi Med’s new Maternity Wing.
More than 40 pregnant moms and some dads gained valuable and additional knowledge on pre-natal care, post-natal care, breastfeeding, family planning, and nutritional immunology last August 14 at the Executive Lounge of the hospital building.
It is quite easy for mothers to believe in any information they read online. It is important for moms and moms-to-be to receive the right information and what could be better source than the experts! Resident Ob-gynecologists of World Citi Med shared what pregnant moms and dads need to know for a healthy and joyful pregnancy from the start and beyond.
Dr. Irish Kathryn Olaguer guided expecting mothers especially first time moms on the necessary pre-natal tests and to look after their health to prevent potential health problems along the way.
Dr. Katrina Alimot pondered on the importance of family support to moms during and after birth on her post-natal care presentation. She also debunked some myths revolving around it. Through proper education and encouragement, moms-to-be gained confidence they need to take care their new born baby.
Right after birth, mommy and baby bond together through breastfeeding. Dr. Diandra Lam emphasized the benefits of breastfeeding to mommy and her little one. Aside from giving nourishment, it strengthens the bond between the two. She also reminded moms that breastfeeding should be a pleasurable experience. Expecting moms need not to worry as World Citi Med doctors and nurses teach proper breastfeeding and have lactation massage for moms who just gave birth.
Another benefit of breastfeeding is that it can be a natural and cheaper form of birth control. Dr. Rina Ramas shared various family planning methods moms and dads can use later on.
Pregnant moms should also watch closely her immune system during the nine months journey. Ms. Jerlie B. Manaog, a Preventive Healthcare and Clinical Nutrition Nurse and Nutritional Immunology Educator pointed out that emotional stability, proper rest, exercise, and right nutrition can contribute to have a well-functioning immune system.
Another highlight of the event was the unveiling of the maternity packages and maternity wing. Ob-Gyne Department Chairman Dr. Lorcelli Parado introduced the maternity package and shared the good news to everyone; World Citi Med has upgraded its maternity facilities and services. What’s even better is that they can avail the package through installment scheme.
Pregnant moms were all excited to see the maternity wing and snapped pictures in nature-inspired and spacious rooms. Some had their own selfie and groufie. All of them were amazed in every room that resembles a hotel room complete with mini refrigerator, posh bathroom and key card security feature.
Medical Director Dr. Margarita Santella-Jara understands what expecting mothers go through physically, emotionally and financially. With this, World Citi Med carefully thought of giving a one-of-a-kind birthing experience for expecting mothers, her new born child and family.
These learning sessions and event are not only to inform and to take care expecting moms but also be an avenue for mothers, doctors as well as brands in maternity care to create a supportive community.
Trusted brands also joined the event and gave maternity essentials to pregnant moms. The Parenting Emporium and Best Beginnings had a pop-up display of various mother and baby items during the event. Moms couldn’t help but buy what they still need before the big day arrives. A huge thank you to The Parenting Emporium, Best Beginnings, Mega Malunggay, Pampers, Huggies, Cetaphil, Chicco, Wilkins Pure, Mommy Treats, Trutea Iced Tea, Nutrifresh, and Citi Wellness Center.
